Mataram - PT Indonesia Tourism Development (Persero) or Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) is ready to support and ensure the Shell Eco Marathon, Indonesia, 2022 which will take place at the Pertamina Mandalika Circuit on 11 - 15 October 2022.

ITDC is also ready to welcome 800 student teams, academics, invited guests, and event committees to enjoy popular tourism spots at The Mandalika.

General Manager of The Mandalika Bram Subiandoro stated that as the manager of The Mandalika area, his party had made various preparations, especially regarding the mobility of participants, committees, and invitations to enter the circuit, as well as during activities in the area. "We are happy to welcome all participants, committees, and invitees to come and have activities at The Mandalika," he said, Tuesday, October 11, 2022.

Bram explained that The Mandalika area is ready to host events similar to the Shell Eco Marathon which presents hundreds or even thousands of visitors. "Our area has complete infrastructure, access, public facilities, and accommodation that can receive large numbers of tourists, such as the Shell Eco Marathon, which will involve nearly 1,000 people," he said.

Not only is there infrastructure such as roads with a total length of 55 kilometers, Mandalika has a parking area that can accommodate nearly 7,000 vehicles, as well as several public facilities, such as the Nurul Bilad Mosque with a capacity of 4,000 people, Kuta Beach Park, which is complete with toilets and rinse rooms, lockers, as well as the Mandalika Bazaar which sells MSME products.

Mandalika has various natural attractions surrounding it, that can be visited for sightseeing. “We are also ready to welcome participants and invitees from the Shell Eco Marathon who want to explore the beauty of The Mandalika area. Road access within our area is very adequate and already connected, which will make it easier for tourists to move and reach tourism spots in this vast area," said Bram.

Stretched out along 16 kilometers of hills and sea areas with calm and choppy waters, this natural potential is not only for tourism activities, but can be used to organize various sporting events such as running, cycling, surfing, beach volleyball, trekking, paragliding and others. 

With the variety of landscapes including hills, beaches, and sea areas, coupled with the existence of an international circuit, ITDC is indeed focused on developing The Mandalika as a Sport Tourism Destination. A number of national and international sport events have been held at The Mandalika, such as Mandalika Ultra Trail 100 in September 2022, L'Etape Indonesia in February 2022, Mandalika Ultra Trail 100, and HK Endurance Challenge in 2021.

After the Shell Eco-Marathon Indonesia 2022 event this October , The Mandalika will host the FIM MOTUL Superbike World Championship (WSBK) Indonesian Series for the second time, and the World Muscle Tour & Sport Festival in November. "We hope that in the future more sporting events, both national and international, will be held at The Mandalika so that it can boost tourist visits ,as well as provide a multiplier effect for the people around the area," said Bram.
