Inspiralarchitects – a leading Indonesian and international architects team in Bali – become a winner of the UNESCO prize for sustainable architecture, The Prix Versailles Award 2021. The Ulaman Eco Resort is part of the 24 final winners, alongside other projects from OMA, Zaha Hadid Architects, Foster & Partners, etc. This is the first time that an Indonesian-based architectural firm has been awarded these prestigious accolades!
In this award, the judging committee and the UNESCO secretariat selected the winners based on their admiration and respect of the architectural works in view of the lasting marks they (the projects) leave.
Text provided by Secretariat of the Prix Versailles] After the announcement of the World Selections in the categories of Airports, Campuses, Passenger Stations and Sports, followed by the Continental Winners for the categories Shops & Stores, Shopping Malls, Hotels and Restaurants, 94 recent creations featuring extraordinary architecture and design were competing in the Prix Versailles 2021 World Finale.
The World Judges Panel crowned the top three projects in each of those eight categories, discerning a total of 24 World Titles.
The official announcement of these results provided an opportunity for the Chairman of the World Judges Panel, Jean-Jacques Annaud, to underscore the admiration and respect that we owe to works of architecture in view of the lasting marks they leave.
Ernesto Ottone Ramírez, UNESCO Assistant Director-General for Culture, further reiterated the importance of the Prix Versailles in promoting sustainable architecture in fields as varied as education, sport, and tourism, in every part of the world.
Dialogue and interconnections between the different aspects of the human environment – from ecology to social relations to culture – pave the way for intelligent sustainable development. More than a mere goal, this offers a wonderful promise of the ability to meet the latest challenges facing the world today.
