"Gran Meliá Lombok is a game-changer for the island's lesser-explored southern coastline — finally a luxury option for those unwilling to sacrifice on comfort. Exceptional yet not exclusive, it is an amalgamation of residential and resort, with privately owned villas making it accessible to a wider market." – Jack Brown, Co-Founder, Invest Islands

south lombok

The focal point of South Lombok is undoubtedly Mandalika, a special economic zone that covers 1,175-hectares of coastal land and will eventually be home to more than 16,000 hotel rooms, a waterpark, 27-hole golf course, 1,500 villas, and an international-standard motor-racing circuit. The estimated cost of the venture is believed to exceed US$3 billion.

Yet what sets Mandalika apart is that it is a development trying to avoid the trappings of previous luxury developments, such as those in neighbouring Bali. With up to 51% designated ‘green space,’ from the outset and various clean energy initiatives in place, the intention of developers is to create something that works in tandem with nature, by becoming a template for sustainable development.

The Gran Melia Lombok is located a 30-minute drive west of Mandalika, on a stepped hillside overlooking the Indian Ocean. Also focusing on sustainability, the two projects complement each other perfectly as the southern coastline of the island looks to establish itself as Asia’s prime eco-tourism destination.

the masterplan

Gran Meliá Lombok will be situated at the beautiful Torok Bay in the south of the island, surrounded by green hills and a beach with crystal-clear waters. The perfect destination to disconnect and enjoy a relaxed approach to life.

The hotel will boast 20++ luxury beachside villas and another 100++ villas on the mountainside, all with private infinity pools and stunning ocean views. Careful attention will be paid to the architectural design, utilising natural elements that represent the essence of the destination. The hotel will blend seamlessly with its natural environment, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in paradise. An abundance of large windows will allow in plentiful natural light and help the property merge with its surroundings, while the elegant furniture and warm tones convey a sense of pure luxury.
