Indonesia will host the annual MotoGP race which will be held in Kuta Mandalika, Lombok. Anticipating the large number of tourists who will come to enliven this event, the government has provided the Pelni and Pinisi Ships as floating hotels during this MotoGP event.
Deputy I of the Presidential Staff Office (KSP) Febry Calvin Tetelepta said “The capacity of hotels in Lombok can only accommodate 16 thousand tourists, so the government will increase the capacity according to the tickets sold, approximately 63,500, by providing Pelni and Pinisi ships as floating hotels”.
Besides providing floating hotels, the government will optimize the Sarhunta program, namely homestay houses that have been built in the National Tourism Strategic Area (KSPN) which can be an alternative for tourists to stay and visit the MotoGP event. There are already 300 sarhunta residences that will be located in several tourist locations, namely Mandalika, Gili Air, Gili Trawangan, and Gili Meno which are located in North Lombok.
Joko Widodo (Jokowi) hopes that the Mandalika MotoGP event, which will be held on March 18-22, 2022, will have a positive impact on the people of Lombok. Not only to boost tourism in the Lombok area but also to improve the local economy. Jokowi is optimistic that the residence for Sarhunta will be fully occupied during the MotoGP event. In addition, the government will also provide camping and glamping (glam camping) land areas. Tetelepta emphasized that this is a government policy and will be managed very seriously to respond to the high enthusiasm of the MotoGP audience, by providing good accommodation.
