JAKARTA – PT Angkasa Pura I Lombok Airport noted that it has served 1.44 million passenger movements and 15.166 aircraft during the period January to September 2022, so the driving of passengers this year will increase when compared to the same period in 2021.
“There is a growth of 103 percent for passenger movement and 74 percent for aircraft movement,” said General Manager of Angkasa Pura I Lombok Airport Rahmat Adil Indrawan in Praya, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, October 5.
As for records from January to September 2021, Lombok Airport only served as many as 706,000 passenger movements and 8,711 aircraft movements. This year’s growth in passenger movement and aircraft movement at Lombok Airport shows that our aviation industry is starting to recover after previously being hit by a pandemic,” he said.
He is optimistic that in the next three months the growth of passenger and aircraft movements will be even better. Moreover, Lombok will host international events such as the 2022 Shell Eco-m Marathon and World Superbike (WSBK) competition which will be held at the Mandalika Circuit. “In addition, the momentum for the 2023 Christmas and New Year holidays is added,” he said.
In September 2022, Lombok Airport recorded 158,528 passenger movements and 1,785 aircraft movements. On average, there were around 5,300 passenger movements per day and 60 aircraft movements per day arriving and departing from Lombok Airport. During 2022, the movement of passengers and the highest number of aircraft at Lombok Airport occurred in March, during the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP title and at that time there were 199,591 passenger movements and 2,116 aircraft movements.
Currently, Lombok Airport serves five domestic flight routes, namely Jakarta, Surabaya, Denpasar, Bima, and Sumbawa Besar. Meanwhile, for international flight routes, only one flight to Kuala Lumpur is served by AirAsia Airlines. “ The plan is that on October 16, 2022, there will be an additional international route that will operate at Lombok Airport. The Scoot airline will serve the Lombok-Singapore route round and round with a flight frequency of 2 times a week, every Wednesday and Sunday,” he said.
