The airport handled 3,421,284 passengers in 2016, an increase of 34% over the previous year’s 2,552,399 passengers.
AP I expects the number of passengers to reach 3.6 million in 2017.
Compared to 2011, when the airport opened and recorded 1,676,921 passengers, this is a significant increase and the airport – never fully operational from the time it opened – desperately needs to be upgraded.
This month, API announced that it had allocated a budget of Rp 205 billion (approx US$15,426,311) to improve the airport/s infrastructure, including Rp 78 billion for apron expansion.
AP I Lombok General Manager, I Gusti Ngurah Ardita, told reporters that all facilities and infrastructure at LIA will be re-organised over the next two years.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column_inner][/vc_row_inner][/vc_column][/vc_row]
